KABB News first hit the waves on 16th December 1987 as the area’s only independent channel until KRRT CH 35 (San Antonio’s initial Fox affiliate service) signed on in November 1985. Fox 29 News San Antonio originally belonged to Alamo Broadcasting Corporation, from which the channel took the calls. Later, in 1989, Alamo decided to sell the KABB News to River City Broadcasting.
