About KQDS TV
KQDS TV Live first hit the air on 20 September 1994 with the call letters KNLD. It was the first independent TV channel to sign on in the Duluth-Superior TV market. Only a handful of people were aware of KQDS TV when it first launched its programming since the station aired at LP transmitter with only a few of the programs included in the Fox 21 Schedule Duluth MN. It used to broadcast for only 4 hours per day which was the minimum airing hours requirement by FCC. The Red River Broadcasting bought KNLD and many other regional radio stations including the KQDS AM in 1998.
Eventually, the station transformed its calls into the current ones KQDS TV. Fox 21 Duluth launched its brand new transmitter on 1 September 1999 and it was the same day when the channel acquired the Fox affiliation. Currently, Fox 21 News Duluth still operates under the management and ownership ofwhile having a primary affiliation with Fox and secondary with Antenna TV.
