Career of Wesleigh Ogle
Wesleigh Ogle has been a news anchor and reporter at KATU TV since April 2016. In her 5 years of experience, Ogle covered a lot of exciting stories ranging from live concerts to outdoor activities. Though Ogle belongs to Southern California, she loved her time here in Oregon. She has been attached to this place and can’t afford to leave. Wesleigh completed BA in Journalism & Religious Studies in 2012 at .
Before starting a job at Channel 2 News Portland, Wesleigh was a News Anchor and MMJ at KVAL News in April 2013. Other than anchoring, she was also responsible for production and editing. Wesleigh also worked at KCBY News as an anchor and MMJ in August 2012. She also served The Daily Update as a Producer, Reporter, Anchor, and Crew Member from August 2008 to May 2012. He completed a couple of news internships before starting a proper career in journalism such as a 4-month News Department Internship at WFAA News in January 2012 and a 2-months Multimedia Internship at Dulwich OnView in June 2011.
Keaton Thomas: Investigative Reporter at KATU 2 News
Keaton is a popular TV news personality who has been working as an Investigative Journalist at KATU Portland since July 2016. During his tenure, Thomas has introduced the station’s Following the Money segment, centered on accountability reporting and public spending. Keaton Thomas also produced multiple stories every week on the area’s unemployment crisis during the COVID crises by developing a dialogue with state leaders and community members to address the issues and inspire action. Keaton also covered top stories in Northwest and Oregon including storms, wildfires, and protests. He also cultivated a strong brand with the help of leadership in order to be recognized by the community members. Not to mention Thomas’ ability to develop robust rapport with successful and influential leaders through cooperative communication to help refine complex data in a way that is easy to grasp. Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism at Northwestern University in 2014.
Thomas is always looking for new opportunities. He is an excellent team player and a communication specialist. Keaton depicted extensive experience in working with internal staff, community members, and government officials. Thomas believes that he has exclusive experience and skills that would be well suited to a role in marketing or communications.

Before starting a job at KATU TV as a Reporter in July 2016, Keaton was a Reporter at KGUN 9 News from June 2014 to June 2016. During these two years, Thomas reported local news, top stories, and content related to the US & Mexico border. He also compiled and edited news content under strict deadlines during working days. Keaton also appeared on camera on CNN when immigration protests took place, covered season floodings, and reported on presidential rallies. Thomas started his journey in Journalism as a Reporter at WLNS News in September 2013.

Rhonda Shelby: Meteorologist at KATU Weather
Rhonda Shelby has been working as a Meteorologist at KATU Weather since September 1993 as a Community Relations Director in September 1993 and then as a Meteorologist in the same year. While working there, she handled community service and public service campaigns. Rhonda was also responsible for managing the PSA air schedule, overseeing the department’s small group of employees, and handling the channel’s annual donation budget. As a meteorologist, Shelby constructed daily climate analysis and daily forecasts for on-air products. Additionally, she has been giving public speaking on behalf of Fisher Broadcasting related to science and meteorology. Over the years, Rhonda has claimed multiple awards for her explicable work.
Rhonda acquired a BA degree in journalism at Brigham Young University in 1986 and a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University in 1998. Shelby also received a Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. Rhonda is also a participant of (JDRF) Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Plus, she is one of the founders of the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center’s Advisory Council at OHSU. When not forecasting, Rhonda can be seen golfing, fishing, baking, and exploring the area’s northwest region.
Other than being a part of KATU Weather, Shelby has also been a Morning Meteorologist at Clear Channel Radio since March 2010. Before Portland Weather KATU News, Rhonda was a Show Producer and Special projects at KOMO TV from February 1988 to September 1993. She worked there for 5 years and 8 months. During that period she produced and compiled news content for the station’s newscast and claimed a local Emmy for her wonderful work at faith healing series. She started her career as a Weekend Producer at KVBC News in March 1987.

About KATU 2 News
KATU TV began telecasting on 15 March 1962 as an independent service. However, after only one month of its inauguration, Channel 2 News Portland got itself affiliated with ABC Network. It made KATU Portland the fourth TV network to get full ABC affiliation in the area in less than a decade. The channel operates alongside a sister station KUNP CH 16. Together, they both share the same location for studios at NE Sand Boulevard, Portland. However, ABC News Portland transmitter lies in Sylvan-Highlands, in the city’s section.
