Jillian Fertig: Morning Anchor at KFDM 6 News
Jullian Fertig is a Morning News Anchor, Reporter, and Senior Producer and at KFDM Channel 6 News. She joined Beaumont’s leading squad of news journalists in January 2016 as a Reporter, Weather Anchor, and Fill-in Anchor. After 1 year and 7 months of her joining, Jillian Fertig was promoted to the Morning Anchor desk in July 2017, which she has been handling till today. Fertig’s duties include writing content for 4.5 hours of newscast daily, editing videos, acting as a fill-in anchor, investigating stories, building effective communication, and providing training to the newbies for reporting roles. Jillian completed her education at the Arizona State Unversity in BS Journalism from 2009 to 2012.
Before joining Sinclair, Fertig was an Anchor and Reporter at News-Press & Gazette Company where he worked for 2 years and 10 months. From March 2013 to December 2015, Jillian covered many integral parts of the coverage such as co-hosted a 5 pm news telecast for the station from Monday to Friday and reported various newscasts.
She was also responsible for constructing stories on regular basis, acting as a fill-in producer when needed, and serving as the investigative reporter. Prior to News-Press & Gazette Company, Fertig was a Student Intern at KTVK-TV 3 On Your Side from August 2012 to December 2012. During this 5 months internship, he worked alongside the Chief Consumer
Investigative Producer and Reporter. Furthermore, she was responsible for handling the emails from fans, sorting out complaints, and researching stories to investigate. Fertig completed her other internships at Know99 Television and Glendale 11. He served the Know99 Television from May 2011 to August 2011 and Glendale 11 for 5 months from August 2010 to December 2010.

Chad Sandwell: Meteorologist at KFDM Weather
Chad Sandwell is a weather anchor who has been in the weather field for more than 20 years. He started working at Sinclair Broadcast Group in June 2007 as a Chief Meteorologist @ Siouxland News. He was a team lead for both Fox and CBS affiliates in Sioux City. His duties also include staffing, coordinating, and on-air content coming from the station’s weather department. Moreover, he used to maintain and update all weather-related content. In July 2018, Sandwell joined KFDM Weather, a Sinclair Broadcast channel. He is still a part of the channel. Chad did BA in Atmospheric Sciences & Meteorology in 1995. Prior to KFDM Weather, Chad was a Meteorologist at KGBT from 1999 to 2007. He also served KBTV from 1997 to 1999 as a Weather Anchor and Reporter. Sandwell was also a Chief Meteorologist at KLAX News from November 1995 to April 1997.
While working there, he used to conduct graphic preparations and weather forecasts, along with managing and monitoring the weather system. Sandwell completed an internship at KTKA News from 1994 to 1995. Before that, he was a Meteorological Intern at WEHT News, which was also his first step in meteorology.Sandwell has been married to Stephanie for over twenty years. About KFDM News
KFDM TV initiated its operations on 24 April 1955. It was the oldest on-air TV channel to begin telecast in the Beaumont-Port Arthur Market. UGHF CH 31 KFDM began a year before but then went off-the-air in a few months. KDFM News boasted to be the first TV channel on the right side of Texas for many years. The channel was locally possessed by Beaumont Broadcasting that used to own a radio channel KFDM 560 AM. However, its founder was a Magnolia Petroleum Company.
The station’s calls KDFM mean Kall For Dependable Magnolene, which was Magnolia’s moto oil’s branding at that time. Despite the fact that the station’s sister radio KFDM 560 was always an ABC affiliate, KFDM TV has been taking its primary content from CBS since the beginning. KFDM Beaumont TX works alongside KBTV CH 4 that operates in the Porth Arthur region under the affiliation of DabI CH 4 under Shared Service and Joint Sales. The sister channel was possessed by Deerfield Media.
KFDM News Operations
The channel’s previous manager Larry Beaulieu was hired by the company as a station’s manager in 1974. He worked together with Cecile Brandt for over 15 years and handled the station’s task effectively. Cecile Burandt was the area’s first female anchor who was hired by any news channel in Beaumont. Larry stepped off from his News Director position on 29 September 2011 and decided to retire from the Journalism career for good. Soon, he was replaced by one of the channel’s oldest employees Rix Garey. KFDM News became the Southeast Texas second TV station to launch its news service in HD in April 2011. The first one was KBMT that started HD broadcast in the area.
