Matt completed his meteorology in 1984 at the University of Utah. After finishing his internship, Zaffino joined KTVX as a weather producer. Then in 1984, he shifted to Michigan’s Traverse City and started conducting weather reports for WGTU. Not after so long, Matt was found working in Michigan’s Battle Creek conducting the morning/evening weather forecast. Zaffino, then, decided to move to West at KDRV as a weather anchor in 1985. However, three years later, he joined KATU news and started providing weekend weather coverage for the channel.

Why did Brian McFayden leave KGW?

Brain McFayden was a news anchor and reporter at Channel 8 News Portland. He used to host the station’s regular show Live at 7. Brian joined the KGW Portland in December 2016 and left it on 4 October 2019. Neither he nor the station disclosed the reason behind McFayden leaving the station. Therefore, there isn’t any solid information regarding this. We will let the audience know as soon as we come up with some information. After leaving NBC Portland, he joined KYGO 98.5 FM. We don’t know why she left but it seems she wanted a change in her professional life. Ted Wheeler, the station’s mayor declared a Tracy Barry Day on 12 October 2018 in order to honor the channel’s long-lasting journalist. Tracy wrote a post on her Facebook Page in early October 2018 saying that she is going to say goodbye to the station soon. The post got above 1700 comments where Barry also engaged with the audience. Barry started a position at KGW News in 1985.

Prior to that, she was a news reporter at KSTW, KTVB, and KPVI. Tracy completed her education in 1977 at Washington State University. Barr has been honored consecutively in the last 30 years due to her skills in storytelling and journalism.

Chris Willis has been a news reporter at KGW News since 2013. He won several awards for his remarkable work in investigating reporting. Willis was also awarded several Emmys, one Edward R. Murrow Award, and multiple Associated Press Awards.

Before KGW News Portland Oregon, Willis was a journalist at KXAN news where he served for more than 14 years as a morning anchor. Chris’ some notable stories include the changes in Texas law, exposing the corruption within the government, and arresting fugitives. Willis also investigated an international abduction case in Texas that resulted in the return of two boys safely to their father. She also managed the station’s strong social media presence. From August 2005 to August 2007, Mehlhaf was a News Reporter at KTXL Fox40 News. She used to break long-form, exclusive news regarding female prison inequalities. Moreover, she introduced the latest show format that doubled the channel’s current rating at that time.

Mehlhaf was a News Anchor/Producer/Reporter at NewsChannel 21 from September 20002 to August 2005. It was a Bend, Oregon where Nina began her professional news career. About KGW News

KGW TV first hit the air on 15 December 1956 at channel number 8. Since KGW radio was an ABC affiliate network, KGW TV also took content from ABC Network in its initial years. However, later, on 26 April 1959 KGW News switched affiliated with KPTV CH 12 which was an NBC affiliate. The station started constructing a new broadcast tower in January 1964 at 1501 SW Jefferson Street. It has been serving the channel’s headquarters as well as the main studios since then.

KGW News studios are available in Southwestern Portland’s Jefferson Street. The channel’s transmitter, however, is installed in the Sylvan-Highlands portion of the city. KGW TV also acted as the regional news station Northwest Cable News’ Portland bureau before they decided to terminate the service on 6 January 2017.
