What is more to KVIA El Paso Station
KVIA News first hit the waves on 1 Sep 1956 on VHF CH 13 with the callsigns KILT. The network’s original owner was Gordon McLendon, a radio personality. It was the 3rd Television service to hit the air in the region; the first two were KROD-TV (now KDBC-TV) CH 4 and KTSM-TV CH 9. Later, after keeping the station for quite a while, McClendon Investment Corporation decided to sell it to Norman Alexander and Joseph Harris in March 1957. Under the new ownership, the station took a new call KELP-TV. Later, in 1966, the station once again shifted to a new owner, John B. Walton Jr.
