WNWO-TV started operating as WDHO-TV on 3 May 1966 under the ownership of. The company also held 20 percent stakes in WPGH Pittsburgh, WXIX Cincinnati, and WATL Atlanta. The other 80 percent stakes were owned by another media group, “US Communications Corporation of Philadelphia.” It used to be an independent channel until 1969; then, it got its first affiliation with United Network.
WNWO’s studios are situated on South Byrne Road, Toledo. However, it produces its news services from the studio facilities of WSBT-TV, a CBS affiliate sister channel located in South Bend, Indiana.
