NBC 26 News staff consists of skilled news anchors, hard-working news reporters, and competent investigative journalists. Together, they form the best team in the states and bring the most exciting and thrilling stories to the newsroom. When the news airs on the Television, it doesn’t just air out of thin air, a lot of struggle of multiple people is included in that. First, the team finds a good story, makes sure it is credible and authentic, and then prepares it for the audience in the form of a news story and finally broadcasts it live on the Television.
The WGBA News team has everything that a reliable news team must have. The WGBA News anchor team includes Abigail Hantke, John Erickson, Caroline Hogan, and Nina Sparano. The reporters’ team consists of Rachel Hopmayer, Eric Crest, Novella Friel, Ben Bokan, and others.
Abigail Hantke: Morning News Anchor at NBC 26 News Green Bay
Abigail is an award-winning news journalist currently working at Channel 26 Green Bay WI since October 2019. She started as the weekend anchor and reporter at the station and eventually promoted to Morning Anchor in October 2020. Hantke is an important part of the WGBA News anchors team who can be seen fooling around between the 5 am to 7 am Weekdays. Abigail’s best moment in her career was taking a trip to LA to conduct a report on the local musician Chris Kroeze in NBC’s The Voice and having a sit talk with Blake Shelton, a music legend, in 2018.
Moreover, Hantke has also assisted with reporting multiple stories in the region. For example, she covered various presidential nominees’ visits for the 2016 election, oversaw the damage caused by the terrible Baron counties tornado in 2017, and reported Jayme Closs’s kidnapping. Hantke completed her schooling at Orfordville Parkview School District in 2011 and earned a BS degree in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Abigail was a morning host for Hello Wisconsin. The show earned the first Emmy award for the channel at 2019 Upper Midwest Emmys. They were also appraised by the Wisconsin Broadcaster Association. Hantke also spent his best time in Wisconsin’s west area.
Abigail’s Past Work
Before moving to NBC 24 News, Hantke was a Multimedia Journalist & Anchor at WEAU 13. She started a show Hello Wisconsin there and earned a great reputation. At WEAU, she was a weekend anchor and later moved to evening telecast.
She started evenings in January 2018. Hantke also got a chance to appear on Fox 25/48’s desk in January 2017 while working for the same channel WEAU 13. She was also responsible for publishing articles on a website and interacting with customers on social media. Abigail was always exploring meaningful stories in . She was responsible for the shooting, editing, and writing her own content and loved interviewing new people every day and sharing their stories with the world. Prior to journalism, Hantke was a cashier at Menards from June 2013 to June 2015. While serving there, Abigail ensured accuracy in customer service. Furthermore, she also
worked at the company’s return and services department. She even claimed the employee of the month award in 2014 for her best performance. Before that, she was a Farm Hand at Rocky Top Acres from 2006 to 2016. She worked there for 9 straight years. While living on a farm, Hantke learned a great deal about work ethics, time management, responsibilities, and patience along with nursing the animals. In May 2014, Abigail completed an internship at Big Radio and The Big AM 1380. At the radio network, she formulated recaps of promotional events that involved creating audios, videos, and uploading pictures.
Career Start
Hantke started her career at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater as a Peer Mentor from 2012 to 2014. It was also an exciting experience for her. In October 2011, she became a part of UWW TV at the University. Abigail was a weather reporter in that station who used to provide weather transmission for the weekly newscast with the help of a green screen. She sharpened her skills including the on-camera presence, reporting, and ad-libbing. She later became an anchor at the station.

Weather is always confusing, the channel must require an extraordinarily skilled team to read the NBC 26 weather radar precisely and craft the accurate weather forecast. Channel 26 Green Bay Weather Team is capable of all of this. You will find Brittney Merlot, Gino Recchia, and Cameron Moreland on the weather team of NBC 26 Weather.
Gino Recchia started working at NBC 26 Green Bay in December 2017 as a Weekend Meteorologist. During all these years, he has performed multiple duties and her only objective was to deliver the best weather in town. Recchia understands mother nature gets angry sometimes, and it is his duty to make sure that people don’t fall victim to the bashful weather. At NBC 26 News, he creates weather packages explaining the current and future climate conditions in the area by making graphics using WSI TruView Max. Gino also covers weekend evenings newscasts. In addition, he conducts live weather hits around the region during the mornings three days per week. Recchia earned his meteorology degree at Purdue University from 2010 to 2014.
Gino’s Career
Prior to NBC 24 News, Gino was a Chief Meteorologist at Fox 21 at KQDS-DT from January 2015 to December 2017. He has also served WGN News as a Weather Forecaster for one year from 2013 to 2014. Before that, Recchia was a Meteorologist and Broadcast Journalist at Fast Track from 2013 to 2014. While working there, he also pursued a career at Purdue Forecasting Club as a President in the same year. Meanwhile, Gino was also a Winter Weather Meteorologist at the Ground & Sanitation Department of Purdue University, Lafayette. From 2012 to 2014, Recchia served the Indiana Department of Transportation as a Meteorologist. He has also served the WBAA as a weather reporter and took the start of the journey at Storm Central as a Weather Forecaster.

About WGBA News
NBC 26 News first started operations in Green Bay on 31 Dec 1980 using the analog signal at CH 26. WGBA News was the second independent TV station to launch its services in the Green Bay market. Channel 26 Green Bay WI shares its studios’ location with WACY News alongside the WIS 172 freeway on North Road in Ashwaubenon. WGBA News transmitter, however, is installed on the east side of De Pere, Wisconsin at Shirley’s unincorporated community. Channel 26 Green Bay also operates a translator WLWK-CD CH 22 that airs from Sturgeon Bay’s north site on Door County Trunk Highway.
