WBAY News team consists of the most excellent group of people including prominent anchors, dedicated reporters, and hardworking investigative journalists. Bill Jartz: News Anchor at Channel 2 Green Bay
Bill Jartz is among the most senior news personalities on the WBAY News team. He joined the team in 1983. He used to watch Chanel 2 and considers, being a member of it is as the big achievement in his life. The Wisconsin native was a high school football star in the Clintonville area and won All-State honors. As the sports director at WBAY News, Jartz grabbed an appreciation from the sports fans of Northeast Wisconsin, handling play-by-play responsibilities for pre-season football games of Packer, along with hosting the Monday Night Kick-Off show (an award-winning program) during the entire schedule. Bill loved journalism and was passionate about sports since childhood. Hence, for Bill, it is the most perfect combination.
Bill Jartz Career
In 1989, Bill received the Wisconsin High School Baseball Coaches Association Media Award. His strong work ethic earned him that accolade. Moreover, Jartz was also honored with WIXX Media Personality Award in the same year. Later, in 1998, Jartz started a new role as news anchor at Action 2 News at 10 together with Cami Rapson, replacing Chuck Ramsey. Jartz decided to take that step because he wanted a change. Moreover, it gave him extra time to spend with a family.
After four years, when the venerable anchor retired, Jartz once again followed the Chuck and took a charge of the 5 pm and 6 pm newscast, as a co-anchor. Furthermore, during the Packers Home Games in Green Bay, Jartz handled the task of being a Voice of Lambeau Field. He secured the position of public address announcer during the 2005 preseason. Additionally, Bill supports the March of Dimes, Children Wisconsin, and has attended several Cerebral Palsy Telethons.
Bill started his job at WSAW News Wausau as the 10’o clock sports personality. His journalism journey is filled with a lot of excitement and ups & down. In his free time, Jartz likes to spend time with his wife and two dogs, and with friends. Moreover, Bill loves fishing, hunting, and keeping himself physically fit. Jartz sometimes loves spending time at his friend’s dairy helping him with multiple chores.
Kristyn Allen: Morning Reporter at WBAY News
Kristyn Allen is a morning news reporter at Action 2 News This Morning providing breaking news and overnight reports from the field. Allen started a job at WBAY TV in October 2011 as a Morning Reporter. It has been almost a decade that Kristyn is covering morning news events in town. Her duties include delivering live reports about the newest overnight news and latest headlines on a daily basis and providing encouraging stories under tight deadlines. Kristyn did a BA in Journalism at in 2006. When Allen was 5, she used to ask her mom multiple times a day to tune into a news channel at 5 pm. However, she didn’t realize that she wants to be a TV reporter until she was a high school student. Now, Kristyn loves to tell other people’s stories and rising important community issues up in the light.
When not reporting, Allen lives to cook, bake, exploring new places in Wisconsin, and trying the food at new restaurants with her family and friends. She spends a happy life with her husband and a daughter.
Kristyn’s Past Work
Before joining WBAY Green Bay, Kristen Allen was a Morning Anchor at WJFW Newswatch 12 from October 2008 to October 2011. While working there, she produced and co-presented 1.5 hours of a morning show. Moreover, she also used to produce and present 7 cut-ins thrice a week. Her other duties involved helping with the daily assignment tasks, contributing in community events in order to develop a relationship between the station and viewers, and providing story ideas, and work solo on turn packages.
Allen took a start in journalism in January 2006 when she first joined the news team at WLNS TV 6 as a Morning Live Reporter. She spends 2 years and 10 months there, during which she conducted a lot of reports. Her work included pitching content for morning newscasts, editing videos for morning news service, assisting the producer with a script, interviewing news sources, substitute for shooting videos, providing live shots in studios and on the field related to breaking news, weather, and traffic. Moreover, she also used to oversee the Police Scanner, AP Wire, and other breaking news resources.

Steve Beylon is a hardworking weather personality who became a part of the WBAY weather team in June 2006 as a Chief Meteorologist. Beylon cherishes every moment in his life. He is a jolly person who loves to spend time with happiness. When not working, you can find steve having a long walk together with his wife Sarah and four kids. Beylon admires the natural beauty that northern Wisconsin has to offer. He suggests taking a toll on that part of the state when there isn’t much cold outside. Cruz Medina: Meteorologist at WBAY Weather
Cruz Medina is a skilled meteorologist who joined the WBAY News team as a full-time Weekend Weather Reporter in January 2021. Medina came to WBAY News from North Carolina that inherits everything from beaches to mountains. Cruz studied Spanish and Meteorology at North Carolina State University and earned himself a degree in both programs. However, he finished his Meteorology degree in 2020. While Medina was in North Carolina, he worked at NCSU Weather as an officer and crafted weekly weather forecasts for the audience.

Medina’s Career
Cruz realized his love for the weather when he was only five. Medina would love watching storms and other severe weather together with his grandpa. The lightning always excited him, he would often run outside to watch the lightning in the sky together with thundering clouds. Though he was passionate about weather since the beginning, he decided to pursue weather when the April 2011 Tornado Outbreak affected his hometown i.e. Wilson, North Carolina.
It is the reason, Medina decided to chase severe weather in Meteorology. Moreover, Cruz is a member of NWA, and also a part of the AMS Board of Broadcast as an AMS Latinx Committee’s ambassador. Cruz joined the WBAY Weather right after finishing college. Medina is excited about crafting a WBAY Weather forecast, delivering severe weather news, catching the Packer’s games, and exploring different place places in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Before WBAY Weather, Cruz was a part of Platipus Anchors as a Production Technician where he served for 1 year and 1 month from August 2019 to September 2020. Prior to that, Medina completed an internship at WTVD ABC 11 Eyewitness News for 1 year and 1 month from June 2019 to July 2020. However, Cruz’s professional life began in August 2018, when he joined the Law Offices of John Eluwa, PLLC as a Law Office Clerk. Medina left that job too after serving for 1 year.

Action 2 News Green Bay Popular Shows
From the syndicated programs such as 25 Words or Less, Dr. Phill, Entertainment Tonight, Monk, and Inside Edition to local news shows throughout the entire week, WBAY News has a lot to offer to its customers. WBAY 2 has a record for broadcasting Telethon for the longest period of time on the same station. The CP telethon has been telecasting on WBAY News since 1954 and it benefits the CP, a regional company specializing in taking care of Cerebral Palsy patients. The organization offers multiple facilities not only in Green-Bay, but also in Two Rivers, Kimberly, and Suamico. The telethon broadcasts from 8 pm Saturday to 6 pm Sunday for 22 hours during the first weekend in March. However, before WBAY News shifted to a 24-hour daily telecast in 2010, the show was split down between 12 am to 6 am.

About WBAY News
WBAY News is the second TV channel to hit the air in the Wisconsin region on 17 March 1953. Before that, the only channel to start broadcasting in the market was WTMJ News Milwaukee. WBAY News was initially serving under the possession of the Norbertine Order of Priests. The priests were already running WBAY Radio and WHBY Radio Appleton. Additionally, they owned Saint Norbert College in De Pere. Like the WTMJ News, WBAY news also initially carried content from the four big networks in the United States. CBS was the primary affiliate partner of WBAY TV, with ABC, NBC, and DuMont as secondary affiliate partners.
In 1953, when WNAM News (now WFRV CH 5) signed in, ABC decided to leave WBAY News and started providing content to WFRV News. Later, in September 1954, NBC also left the Action 2 News and started providing programming to WMBV CH 11 in Marinette. Since DuMont terminated its services in August 1956, WBAY News took CBS completely as an affiliate partner. WBAY TV 2 decided to make a renovation to its antenna in 1956 and started telecasting color programming.
WBAY News Studios
In 1924, the downtown Green Bay studios for WBAY News were established as a former Knights of Columbus clubhouse which later became a Roman Catholic High School when the Great Depression hit the world. The old auditorium/gymnasium which is currently famous as WBAY Auditorium was used for the ABC News Green Bay’s cerebral palsy telethon studios. The location used to be the WBAY News’s main studio in the early years until 1954 when the owner decided to create a new tower behind the main tower. In Addition, the auditorium was being used for the local theatrical productions.
WBAY TV News’s newsroom is in the basement of the tower which was previously a bowling alley and swimming pool. Moreover, WBAY News’s building was also home to the channel’s previous radio networks which were later sold to Midwest Communications in the 70s.
Currently, WBAY News studios are in the downtown Green Bay area towards South Jefferson Street, around the ancient Brow County Courthouse. It is situated near the Fox Cities news bureau on Appleton’s west side at College Avenue, just towards the Fox River Mall’s south region. ABC Green Bay antenna is being shared with the other antennas of WPNE News (a PBS Wisconsin-owned station), WIXX Radio 101.1 FM, and WPNE FM 89.3 (owned by Wisconsin Public Radio).
Decades
WBAY News declared on 9 January 2015 that it would start airing a new Weigel/CBS Broadcasting Network known as Decades in the place of Live Well Network, which was scheduled to terminate its programming by mid-January. During the time between the termination date of Live Well and the debut of Decades, WBAY TV News used to carry the soft launch of the network along with the series of marathon blocks.
Circle
WBAY News Green Bay has a secondary affiliation with Circle, Ion Television decided to took control of WBAY-DT 6 (a sub-digital network of Action 2 News Green Bay). It gave room to a Circle to launch its operations in the channel. The joint venture between Opry/Gray Entertainment known as Circle officially established its grounds on 1 January. As soon as it was given a platform, the Circle started featuring Southern lifestyle programming and country music. The service was commenced after the promotional reel of a couple of weeks. Circle airs The Song program on WBAY News during the Sunday nights after the 10 pm news telecast when the channel isn’t airing football games.
