About Channel 20 News Montgomery
WCOV News started operations for the first time on 17 April 1953 as a primary CBS affiliate network. Although, Channel 20 News Montgomery also used to take content from other major affiliate partners of that time, i.e., ABC, NBC &
. It was the first-ever TV network to start providing services in Montgomery. The station was also briefly linked with NTA Film Network during the late 1950s. The network’s appWCOV TV Montgomery AL was first supposed to telecast on CH 12, but RCA failed to deliver the VHF antenna in time. Thus, it forced the network to use CH 20 at UHF signal. It kept haunting the station for the next thirty years. The network initially belonged to Oscar Covington and his family, who also happened to possess radio networks in Alabama. Currently, WCOV Montgomery AL operates under the management of Woods Communications Corporation, as a Fox affiliate network.

The station’s News Services
WCOV TV News used to produce its own news content under the CBS affiliation as an Eyewitness News. However, after losing CBS, the station dropped its news service. On 7 January 2008, Fox 20 News Montgomery AL decided to bind in a contract with WSFA to broadcast primetime news in collaboration with another Fox channel WDFX-TV, a Raycom Media-owned TV channel licensed to Dothan. However, only after running things smoothly for two years, it ended the contract with WSFA and made a pact with WAKA, a CBS affiliate network possessed by Bahakel Communications. George McDonald and Stefanie Hicks are famous journalists on WCOV TV.
The Agreement suggests WCOV TV Montgomery AL would create a thirty-five-minute news transmission at 9, covering the entire Montgomery region. On 4 February, WAKA merged its operations with WBMM and WNCF, but the move didn’t affect the channel’s contract with fox affiliate and kept providing “WCOV News @ 9,” which the station now broadcasts in HD from a revamped set at the mutual WNCF/WAKA studios.
