About WSVB TV
In 1948, WSB-TV first aired on channel 8, and it was the first television station of its kind in the country. In addition, it is one of the first television stations to start operations in Georgia, and 2nd one in Washington, D.C., the first one in Washington was WTVR-TV CH 6, located in Richmond, Virginia. A reporter for The Atlanta Journal and the owner of WSB radio (now 98.5 FM), James M. Cox founded the station in 1957.
