About WLOX News
Having started operations on September 15, 1962, WLOX was the first TV channel to get started on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The original owner of the station was WLOX Broadcasting Company. A major part of the Love family’s media empire was WLOX Broadcasting Company and WLOX radio (currently called WANG radio). WLOX TV quickly merged with ABC Network. As the station was in a very small market, aligning immediately with ABC was an unusual move at that time. It was not until the 1970s that ABC reached the same size and ratings as CBS and NBC.
The studios of WLOX can be found on DeBuys Road in Biloxi, while the transmitter can be found nearby McHenry in southern Stone County’s unincorporated area. On the Sparklight cable network, the station is available on CH 10 as CBS and CH 13 as ABC, plus in high definition through channels 1010 as CBS and 1013 as ABC.
