Kontji AnthonyKontji Anthony is a well-connected and admirable news personality and skillful communications specialist that has been pursuing journalism for more than 24 years. Kontiji’s Start of Career

Kontiji did graduation in BA School of Communications from Howard University. After completing her studies, Anthony started working as a Field Producer and Desk Assistant at WCBS News in July 1994, where she used to aid the newsroom team in the production of daily news, aside from interviewing various subjects for broadcast.

In 1996, Kontiji began to work for Sinclair Broadcast Group as a Multimedia Journalist, where she used to write, produce, report, shot, and edit video clips and cover news transmission for a daily newscast. Shortly after that, Anthony was promoted to a full-time TV News reporter and started conducting daily news and weather through enterprising and live Television reporting, producing, and anchoring.

In 1999, Kontiji joined the KOVR News team as a TV News Reporter, where she managed a collaboration with The Daily Reflector Newspaper to publish newspaper reports and convergent TV. Later, Anthony became a part of Media General as a Morning News Anchor in 2001 and started presenting newscasts and producing content along with selecting the newsworthy content for other newscasts.

Eventually, Kontiji became an Evening Newscaster at Channel 5 Memphis. It has been almost 16 years, and Anthony is still a part of Tennessee’s leading news channel.

Andrew Douglas: Anchor & Reporter

Andrew DouglasAndrew Douglas is an award-winning journalist who has more than 20 years of journalism experience in Mid-South and Memphis. He loves the Memphis community and does everything in his power to support them. Douglas joined WMC TV 5 and started working as a host for morning and noon news as well as an investigative reporter. Andrew is committed to delivering the best to the community. Aside from supporting the United Way charities annually, Douglas covers and hosts fundraising events throughout the year.

Andrew has been awarded as Tennessee’s best anchor by the Tennessee Associated Press. He has also been cited as the state’s one of the top reporters by The Tennessee Associated Press. Plus, he also has earned the Emmy Award and Society of Professional Journalists Award. Moreover, Douglas has claimed the Best TV News Anchor award in several read polls along with two protruding Memphis Publications.

Andrew was the first news personality to join Central Florida News, 24-hour Orlando News Channel, in 1997. He reported the entire NASA Space Program from the launch of the Shuttle to its landing.

Douglas studied BS Telecommunications from the University of Florida in 1996. Though Andrew has completed the education way before, he started his journalism career after four years in September 2000 when he joined WHIO News as an Anchor and Reporter. After serving the WHIO for almost six years, Douglas became an Investigative Reporter and Morning News Anchor at WMC in October 2006; he is still here in Memphis after dedicating the 14 years of his life.

Ron Childers: Chief Meteorologist at News Channel 5 Memphis

Ron ChildersRon Childers is leading the WMC Weather team as a chief meteorologist since December 1986. WMC Channel 5 was his first and only TV channel that he has been serving for more than 34 years. Childers appears on WMC Action News Five at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm. Ron had started meteorology way before earning his Broadcast Meteorology degree. During his extensive career, Ron has covered numerous severe storms in the Mid-South. Childers earned an Emmy for covering the winter storm that draped the entire region with snow. Later, in 2005, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated him for an Emmy Award for Best Weathercast.

After five years, Ron was once again honored with an Emmy Nomination for his weekly webchat about the weather on the station’s official website. Childers holds a seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society. Plus, he is also a part of NWA- National Weather Association. Ron remains in touch with various schools, civic groups, and clubs throughout the year and acts as a host and auctioneer for numerous fundraising events. Moreover, he likes to spend time with various charitable organizations.

Childers was also honored by the Diversity Memphis for Humanitarian of the Year Award for his services towards charity in the community. Ron completed his education at Mississippi State University in Broadcast Meteorology in the mid-90s. However, before that, he used to serve the WRVR Radio in Memphis then transferred to WMC FM 100. Later, in 1989, he moved to WMC 5 Memphis TV station as a promotion and marketing producer and part-time weather reporter.

Brittney Bryant: Weather Personality at News Channel 5 Memphis

Brittney BryantBrittney Bryant is a morning weather anchor and reporter at News Channel 5 Memphis providing her services to the channel for more than six years. Watch Brittney live every morning from 4:30 am to 7 am. Her passion for learning about weather mysteries drove her to polish the skills in reporting and writing broadcast and web news.

Though, Bryant had already completed her education from Mississippi State University in Geosciences in 2012, focusing on Broadcast Meteorology.
