WPGH-TV provides exclusive WPGH weather coverage by the experienced crew of meteorologists “WPXI Severe Weather Team.” Fox 53 Pittsburgh doesn’t air its own weathercast and takes the content from another TV channel WPXI-TV being produced by their weather team. The squad delivers a detailed report of climate conditions in the area being forecasted by the channel’s highly developed interactive radar. The radar predicts the weather conditions based on the precipitation rate and wind movement. Does the station have its own Newscast Team?
Fox 53 Pittsburgh doesn’t have any of its own news team as it mainly focuses on TV series and entertainment content. Though, it still airs some of the news transmission which it takes from WPXI-TV Pittsburgh. Fox 53 Pittsburgh used to air its own newscast, but later on 12 January 2006, WPGH-TV decided to terminate its in-house news production and made an agreement with WPXI-TV and started taking content from this station. This move made WPGH the biggest Fox-affiliate channel by market size to outsource the news telecast from another station.

Fox 53 WPGH also doesn’t have its exclusive WPGH Weather team and airs weather coverage produced by the WPXI’s experienced team of meteorologists. Kevin Benson is one of the elite meteorologists of America with a seal of approval being granted by the American Meteorological Society. WPGH-TV started its test patterns on 14 July 1953 as WKJF-TV and began regular transmission on 1 August 1953. It used to air on Channel number 53. On 12 February 1965, (Federal Communications Commission) declared that an application as submitted to sell the station’s construction permit to Daniel H. Overmyer for alleged 28000 dollars with the Federal Communication Commission giving the sale approval on 28 July 1967. The station acquired the Fox affiliation on 6 October 1986. A year later, the network shifted to Renaissance Broadcasting. Under the fox name, WPGH TV started getting high ratings. WPGH 53 still operates under the affiliation of the Fox network and is currently being owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
