About WPSD TV News
With an analog signal on VHF channel 6, WPSD TV News became operational on May 28, 1957, with the calls WPSD. A member of the NBC family for much of its existence, the station is jointly owned by the Paxtons and Western Kentucky’s most well-known newspaper,. PSD in the channel’s name stands for the Paducah Sun-Democrat, the name of the newspaper when the channel was established in 1957. As the only station in the Paducah–Cape Girardeau–Harrisburg market with private ownership, the station is among the few in the country that has retained the same owner for its entire life (Paxton Media Group).
TV Lane in Paducah is the location of WPSD-TV’s studios, while the transmitter lies in Kentucky’s Monkey’s Eyebrow.
