About WREG News Memphis

Channel 3 News Memphis TN initially started its services on 1st January 1956 while it regularly broadcasts on 2nd January. Whereas Nexstar Media Group (Tribune Broadcasting Company II LLC) is the owner of the Memphis television station. The TV channel operated out of the Hotel Peabody location along with new staff members, news, and production team.

Cowles transferred WREC-TV to the New York Times Company in 1971 which changes call letters to WREG-TV. Whereas the channel transferred ownership from the NY Times Company to Local TV LLC in May 2007. KFNG starts broadcasting from S.D. Wooten on 22nd September 1922 on a ten-watt battery. WREG-TV and wreg.com made Memphis history on 1st February 2008 by carrying exclusive live-breaking news coverage on the web.
