About WSBT TV

WSBT News first hit the air on 21 December 1952 under the ownership of the South Bend Tribune. The original studios of WSBT 22 were located at Lafayette and Colfax, in the South Bend Building of downtown South Bend. In 1956, the studios were shifted to a new location at Lafayette and Jefferson Street. In the beginning, WSBT News used content from all four major US television networks including CBS (primary affiliate) and ABC, NBC, and DuMont (secondary affiliate). WSBT 22 was the only UHF ChannelUHF ChannelUltra High Frequency or UHF is a broadcasting bands for the over-the-air TV broadcasting. The frequency range of UHF lies between 470 MHz to 890 MHz. to air a high school basketball tournament from John Adams High School.

These days, WSBT 22 operates as an entity of Sinclair Broadcast Group, which took the charge of the station on 1 October 2015 after purchasing it from Gray Television Network. The station still takes its primary programs from CBS Network. Tough, it is now only taking secondary content from Fox and Charge.
