Emily Matson: Journalist at Erie News Now
Emily Matson is a News Anchor and Reporter at Erie News Now who joined the channel in April 2004. She is excited about telling her hometown stories while staying on her hometown TV channel. She became a part of WSEE News as a junior, where she was forced to work for unusual nights. Matson spent her first two years with Mark Soliday producing the morning show when she started her career at the station. However, she wasn’t happy about leaving the morning crew but felt excited at the same time when she got a chance to shine as a reporter.
Matson’s Time at WSEE TV
While delivering her general assignment reporting tasks, she was more attracted to the crime beat since the first day of her job. Matson enjoyed her work and was pleased to be able to make a positive impact on the community. Emily also learned that every day in the news is different from others and that no single day is the same. She was also passionate news breaking news and claimed the Outstanding Spot News Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. Viewers can see Matson on the anchor desk at 7 pm and 11 pm. She conducts a 7 pm show with John Stehlin highlighting the trending stories of the day. Then, she carries Erie’s No. 1 nightly newscast along with Mike Ruzzi. Also, Emily will not always be found behind the desk; she always grabs the opportunity of getting out in the field and talking about community issues.

About WSEE News
Erie News Now started airing its first telecast on 24 April 1954. Erie Times-News’ publisher Mead Family was the original owner of the channel. Both WSEE and WICU used to air ABC programming until WJET News hit the air in 1978. Three years later, the suffix -TV was added to WSEE, making it WSEE TV.
