Ashley Izbicki is the news anchor and reporter that conducts 4 pm and 9 pm newscasts on News On 6 Tulsa. Izbicki joined the channel in October 2017 and since then has been providing quality reporting to the public. While giving her time to the station, Ashley covered live State Capitol reports during the infamous teacher walkout, reported visit of Mike Pence, the VP of USA, to Tulsa, looked into the matter of Oklahoma’s poor-ranking nursing homes, and compiled through reports related to several topics such as embryo adoption and bullying.
Izbicki thinks that embracing the place where you reside is an important thing and that’s why she always puts a step forward in community service and helps the not-for-profit organizations for their missions and goals. Meanwhile, Ashley has also aided the US effort against the Red Cross. She also acts as a member of the board in the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction. Izbicki’s Past Experiences
Before Griffin, Izbicki was a member of News 19 WLTX as a Morning News Host from September 2014 to September 2017. Prior to this, Ashley was a Weekend Morning Anchor and Multimedia Journalist at WBIR from November 2012 to September 2014. There, she was a host of the leading morning newscast of the channel.
Moreover, Izbicki used to control the channel’s digital platforms such as websites and social accounts. She also ran assignment desks and reported for the Station of the Year award by National Edward R. Murrow. Before coming to WBIR, Izbicki was a Multimedia Journalist at CW25, ABC57, MeTV, THIS TV, and MYS from February 2011 to October 2012. There, Ashley conveyed breaking news aggressively and compiled news in the field. Izbicki also shot live videos with a TVU for the morning news service, acted as a fill-in host for the anchor desk, and turned PKGs regularly for evening news transmission.
In February 2010, Izbicki became a part of WBKB TV 11 as a Producer, Reporter, and Anchor. There she anchored public affairs shows, collected data, produced and hosted weekday evening news transmission, and managed the channel’s site and social media platforms. Jonathan Cooper: TV News Anchor at KOTV News
Jonathan Cooper acts as a noon anchor at KOTV 6 Tulsa and airs newscasts from Monday to Friday. Before being promoted to noon anchor, Cooper was a weekend evening anchor at News On 6. Jonathan’s family lives in Owasso but he loves Oklahoma and spends quality time here. His origin, however, is from Kansas City, Mississippi. When not reporting, Jonathan enjoys cheering, golfing, and spending time with family. Davis completed his education at the University of Kansas in 2013.
Before starting a job at KOTV DT, Cooper was a part of the KOCO News team as a reporter/anchor from October 2015 to November 2018. Prior to this, Jonathan was a Weekend Anchor/ and Reporter at KQTV from October 2013 to October 2015. In his 2 years of tenure, Cooper reported exciting stories, shot videos, and created packages. Moreover, she researched and wrote both broadcast and online mediums, reported live in the field and on the set, used photojournalism for telling stories and whatnot.
Cooper’s Past Work
In March 2008, Jonathan started a job at Kansas City Royals as a Bat-Boy/Clubhouse Attendant. There, he helped in Kansas City Royal’s Daily Operations including clearing, laundry, and batboy duties. From January 2013 to May 2013, he was a Multimedia Intern at Fox Sports.
Before that, Jonathan was an On-Air Sports Personality and Producer at KJHK Radio from August 2010 to May 2013. During that time, he used to compile interesting facts and statistics to broadcast on-air in a weekly radio show. Plus, he hosted pregame, post-game, and halftime programs for basketball and football.
In August 2009, Cooper became a Multimedia Anchor/ Reporter at KUJH News and conducted, edited, and photographed news shows every week. Cooper also did a job at Rippol as a Social Media Director from September 2012 to April 2013. His duties involved targeting potential audiences via Google+, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Jonathan started his journalism career in January 2011 when he completed the internship at KCTV and KSMO.

Like other meteorologists, Sawyer Wells was also a weather passionate kid. He started his journey at KOTV weather in February 2020 as a full-time meteorologist where he offers on-air weather presentations and KOTV weather forecasts. Wells also delivers extensive Dual-Pol News On 6 radar Interpretation.
He is also proficient in AccuWeather/Baron Systems and a member of AMS. In 2018, Sawyer graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in meteorology.
Wells’ Previous Work
Prior to News On 6 Weather, Wells was a part of NewsHub LLC as a full-time evening weather personality/Producer in June 2019. There, he provided daily live weathercasts for WHPM, WGBC, CBS24, FOX30, and WSST. Moreover, Sawyer recorded and shot promos and cut-ins related to local weather phenomena. In October 2018, Wells became an Evening Meteorologist and Producer at The Media Gateway, INC. While working for the company, he offered regular weather forecasts for different stations and delivered severe weather transmission for pertaining DMA upon required.

In January 2017, Swayer did an internship in Meteorology at KWTV and helped in preparing weather forecasts along with creating graphic content for on-the-air meteorologists with the help of Lynx/Baron Omni. Moreover, Wells also focused on public outreach via Facebook Live sessions and assisted in BTS tasks during severe weather.
Sawyers also served the University of Oklahoma from August 2014 to May 2018 as an OU Nightly Meteorologist. While working for them, he conducted analyses on data to craft weather briefs and forecast presentations, wrote scripts for weather hosts with the aid of i-News, maintained the broadcast’s audio levels, operated camera equipment, and more.
Kendal Smith: Weather Reporter at KOTV Weather
Kendal Smith started working at News On 6 weather in August 2019 as a Weekend Meteorologist. She conducts daily forecasts, manages behind-the-scenes weather coverage, and reads the News On 6 Radar effectively. Kendal was a weather geek since a young age when she witnessed an EF-5 tornado with her extended family in Western Kansas. At that moment, Smith got a more desire to explore weather and atmospheric sciences. Following her passion, Kendal took admission at the University of Arkansas where she completed her broadcast journalism degree.
Smith loves to sing, work out, dance, and hanging with friends and family when she isn’t reporting. Kendal also loves sports and cheers the Kansas City, University of Arkansas, Mississippi State sports teams. Moreover, Smith also enjoys exploring new places in Oklahoma. Smith’s Past Work
When Kendal was in Arkansas, after graduating, she took an internship at sports and weather departments at Fox 24 News and KNWA. Afterward, she studied Meteorology at the Mississippi State University and relished her time at Magnolia State. She covered various severe weather incidents in Western Alabama and Northeast Mississippi. These incidents were helpful for her as Kendal learned a thing and two about wild weather which assisted her in Green Country. Moreover, Smith is also a part of the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society.

News On 6 Tulsa weather has a separate team of storm chasers called StormTracker 6. They are exclusively dedicated to cover the storms within the region. Darren Stephens: Stormchaser for KOTV Weather
Darren Stephens loved the extremeness of severe weather from a young age and cherishes each and every moment of spending time chasing the storms. Raised up in Moore, Stephens got great opportunities to pursue his dream in his hometown. The weather is so bad during severe weather conditions that he would prefer to remain outside, his parents would literally drag him inside. Later, his family shifted to Tulsa when Darren was just a teen. After moving to Tulsa, Darren Stephens took admission at Haskell High School together with his future wife. After completing the degree at Haskell, he pursued the BS Business Administration degree at Northeastern State University. Darren experienced some of the deadliest tornadoes while growing up. One of them was in 1974 when a tornado outbreak occurred during his time at elementary school.
On 3 May 1999, Stephens’s hometown in Moore was literally wrecked by a deadly tornado while he watched the whole incident here in Tulsa. Stephens’ commitment to public safety together with his passion for severe weather, led him to become a Storm Tracker. Darren officially became a part of the KOTV WARN radar team in 2004. He always leads the way when you need the help of technology in storm detecting. Moreover, he assists with integrating the latest technology into News On 6’s tracker vehicle. About KOTV Channel 6
KOTV Tulsa first hit the air on 15 October 1949. Though, the station began regular transmission on 22 October 1949. KOTV DT was the first to start operations in Tulsa, whereas it was the second to start operations in Oklahoma. It was the 90th TV channel to hit the waves in the United States. Initially started airing for 11.5 hours/day from 12:30 pm to 12:00 am, KOTV News was a CBS affiliate since its origin. Though, it also had a secondary affiliation with NBC, Paramount Television Network, and DuMont Television Network, when it launched.
Currently, KOTV Channel 6 works under the name of Griffin Communications as a still primary affiliate partner of CBS Network. The secondary affiliate partners are The CW and News On 6 Now. Channel 6 Tulsa is also a sibling to KVOO-FM 98.5, KFAQ AM 1170, KHTT FM 106.9, KBEZ FM 92.9, and KXBL FM 99.5. The studio location of all the stations is on the Wast Cameron Street and North Boston Avenue at the Griffin Communication Media Center in the Tulsa Art District (the downtown neighborhood). Whereas, KOTV 6 transmitter is installed in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma towards the north of the Muskogee Turnpike on the South 273rd East Avenue. Views in Oklahoma can watch the station at Channel 6 on Cox cable network in both SD and HD.
