KMPH TV first hit the waves on 11 October 1971 as an independent TV network. However, it aired some CBS, NBC, and ABC shows that local affiliates didn’t accept. It was the first TV service established by the Pappas Television, owned by Pappas brothers Harry, Mike, and Pete. Though, the company already had RADIO CHANNELS KBOS 94.9 FM and KGEN 1370 AM in the same area. The channel used to have their first studios at Mooney Boulevard, Visalia.
