About KSN TV

KSN News first hit the air with the calls KARD TV on 1 September 1955. The network’s original owner was Wichita Television Corporation and it was the fourth TV service to start operations in the Wichita-Hutchinson market. KAKE CH 10 was the first to begin telecast in October 1954, followed by KEDD CH 16 that was aired in August 1953. The third one was KTVH CH 12 broadcasting in July 1953. KSN Wichita began operations as an independent network but eventually joined forces with NBC Network on 1 May 1956 when KEDD CH 16 was terminated.

Before that NBC belonged to KEDD and after the termination of CH 16, NBC was already looking to hop on to a new station. Wichita was one of the United States’ one of the smallest cities to contain three TV channels with major networks as their affiliate. KSN TV studios are available in Northwest Wichita’s North Main Street. Whereas, the station’s transmitter is installed in the Sedgewick County of rural Northwest.
