Being a regional news channel, it broadcasts community news, local weather forecasts, and traffic updates for America’s finest city. It is best rated for reporting political activities and entertainment news. The station posses a fully enthusiastic investigation team for handling crime and scandal news in San Deigo county. NBC7 Responds is responsible for resolving personal-cheat and wronged or treated unfairly cases.

Channel’s Overview

The channel first hit the waves on 14 November 1965 by using call-letters KAAR. It was the first independent TV broadcaster in the market and the first one in the region to operate on UHF signals. Later, KAAR went dark and ultimately transferred to the new ownership Western Telecasters Inc. by Bass Family, and then again started broadcasting as KCST on 2 Feb 1968.

From the 1960s to 1970s, for four years, Western Telecasters attempted several times to take the ABC affiliation and eventually got succeed. In March 1973, Western Telecasters decided to hand it over to Storer Broadcasting, which happened to own the channels with major affiliations in the Midwestern and Eastern United States.

On 27 June 1977, a swap occurred between ABC and NBC causing KGTV to shift under ABC affiliation and KCST to get NBC. After jumping through several ownerships, KNSD finally became an NBC-owned and operated TV channel in May 1996, though the sale was completed in August.
